The Flower of the Month Series is DONE!

It’s been about a year since the first thought about creating the Flower of the Month series popped into my brain. I spent the next couple of months tweaking the idea, and refining the details. And then I started. In December of 2018 I took cutter to block and started carving the January Carnation. At the time, I thought that I would only be offering option of the flower with the color background, but after printing, I realized that the colors may be too limiting for some customers, so I decided to offer the black and white option, as well. 40 in color and 40 in black & white. You can do the math. That’s a 960 print commitment. (Let me be clear, I’m printing in small batches, so I haven’t actually gotten to 960 yet.)

The project grew to a scale that I hadn’t anticipated, but I didn’t waver in feeling like it was something I was supposed to do. I’m proud of this series. Proud that I took on something of this scale. Proud that I saw it through to the end.

I don’t have plans to create another series of this scale for 2020, and I’m really excited to see where that freedom leads me. Everything has a season, and I feel like I’m transitioning from one season to the next. Let’s see where it takes us!
